Gazelle G5 & G6 Portable Gazebo Reviews

The Gazelle Portable Hubs are some of the most popular Pop Up Gazebos on the market, as they offer robust, bug-free relaxation.

They’re widely used for camping by families and large groups to protect from the harsh sun, mosquitos and other bugs, and light rain and winds. For picnic time, fishing, barbeques, and events, the Gazelle Gazebos are known for their smart designs and ultimate protection.

Portable shelters are not to be confused with regular canopies, as they offer so much more. Unlike a canopy, you’re surrounded by thick mesh that gives you protection from all angles.

The great thing is that they offer the versatility that a portable screen tent should provide. They’re fast to install and take down, come with a handy carry bag, provide a lot of space, and maintain a strong framework.

But with these ideal features, are these gazebos all they’re cracked up to be?

Today we’re doing an in-depth review of the Gazelle G5 and G6.

Our First Thoughts

When it comes to enjoying the outdoors staying bug and sun-free, these Gazelle Gazebos are reliable choices. We feel that they’re perfect options for families who are looking for somewhere to hang out, without having to use their regular camping tent.

They make great dining spaces with the large interior room, so you can keep your food uncovered without worrying about pesky flies or other bugs.

The intuitive pop up installation is super convenient and accommodates to the modern camper. Plus, the prices for both are quite fair when you think about their large sizes and robust build. We think you’re getting fantastic quality for the cost.

They are both lightweight for easy transportation, which we love for a couple of reasons. Not only does it make it easier to carry around the site, but you don’t have to fold it down to move it around.

As a freestanding structure, you’re never limited with where you can place it, as you can simply pick it up and move it while it’s erected. For camping and other open-air gatherings, these instant shelters are durable and provide great quality in affordable packages.

Main Overview – Breaking Down Every Detail

Both the G5 and G6 are extremely similar in design. The main difference is the size and number of walls, with 6 walls for the G6 that provide a larger interior space. Each feature we’ll speak about relates to both sizes, but we will specify the slight differences throughout each one.

Smart Set Up

The pop-up design for both models makes for a hassle-free and super-fast installation. For large structures, you can pitch both yourself without help from others in 45 and 60 seconds. While they don’t immediately pop out like some other models, they take seconds to unfold. Then, using the umbrella-like frame, the roof and each wall pop out without much force at all.

Sets Up Instantly Out of the Carry Bag

For screen tents, in particular, a fast set-up with no tools or assembly required is one of the best features to have. This is because you want to spend your time doing other things, like fun camping activities. Plus, it’s handy to have it up quickly so you can stay protected in a rush. Taking it down is also a cinch, as you only need to pop the walls and roof back in and fold it away.

Structure

With a unique hub design system, a highly rigid structure is formed in seconds. Simply by pulling each hub out using the toggles, the walls form into domes. As well as creating a firm structure, this design of Gazelle Gazebos also increases the space inside, without adding any additional weight. Fibreglass poles are used for both, which makes them light in weight and flexible.

Sun & Rain Protection

Featuring a UV resistant coating, you have UV 50+ protection from harsh sun rays. This is perfect for use in the summer, as you can enjoy eating and playing outside without fear of sunburns or overheating.

Protection from rain and leaks is provided through several factors. First, the 210D Oxford polyester material has a 2000mm water column to withstand moderate to heavy rainfall.

Plenty of Space for a Picnic Table and Chairs

Paired with the reinforced corner pole pockets where all the poles intersect, you’ll stay nice and dry inside. Even though it claims that it’s only water-resistant, we think this waterproof rating is quite high and it can withstand more than you may think.

The other method for rain protection comes from the floor flaps. They are located at the very bottom on the outside. They are spread across the entirety of the body, including the front entrance when it’s closed. Although they won’t protect from large puddles, they’re still great for stopping small splashes and precipitation from leaking in.

Bug & Wind Defence

The mesh all throughout these models is tightly woven and made specifically to defend from bugs. It’s designed so that it remains breathable to allow airflow, but the weaving is done so well that even the smallest critters can’t get inside.

Optional outer panels can be bought separately and attached using tough Velcro on each wall and the entrance. We recommend purchasing these, as they allow you to control the amount of ventilation you want to come through. Plus, things can get very sunny and you may need to also regulate sun exposure.

Additional Wind Panels Can be Attached

YKK zippers are heavy-duty and robust to further stop bugs and wind from sneaking through. They’re not flimsy and they have little nylon pieces on them so you can zip with ease.

Although these are freestanding, you do have the option to secure them down to prevent things from blowing away with the wind. You’re provided with stakes and guylines, but if you’re going in more intense winds, we recommend bringing your own industrial stakes.

Storage

Both sizes maintain ultralight forms with minimal designs. The light, yet high-quality, materials and framework are smartly constructed so that these Gazelle Gazebos models can be carried effortlessly.

Even though you do get a carry bag, the pack size is a little long and probably won’t be ideal for backpacking or hiking.

Most Asked Questions – We’ve Got You Covered

Is There Enough Room for a Picnic Table?

For the smaller model, we think you can easily fit a small table with 8 chairs inside, or less if you want some room leftover – otherwise a standard picnic table with a few chairs is fine, plus you can zip it closed. For the larger version, you could fit one in even easier since there is more interior floor space.

Do They Come With Flooring?

Neither model comes with flooring, so keep this in mind if you need a floor. Bring along a footprint or tarp slightly larger than the ground space, so the outer bottom flaps can sit on top to firmly prevent any leaks.

Do I Have To Tie It Down?

Since these are freestanding, you can place these on any surface without securing them down. If you can’t use the provided stakes and guylines, like if you’re setting it up on the concrete, we recommend putting something heavy on the bottom flaps. Use sandbags or bricks along the bottom flaps to ensure nothing will fly away.

Our Final Thoughts on Gazelle Gazebos

Whether you’re trying to stay protected from wind, rain, shine, or sand, the Gazelle G5 and G6 Gazebos are clearly a go-to option for any camping trip or outdoor event.

They are lightweight enough to carry around with ease, they keep a solid firm structure, are versatile so you don’t need to tie them down, and they are packed with smart features.

You’ll stay protected and safe from bugs and harsh sun rays, all whilst being able to soak in the views and gentle breeze of the outdoors. These multifunctional screen shelters are perfect affordable options for any camping trip or other outdoor gathering.
