First Impressions

We absolutely adore the design of this tent. It’s so charming and comforting, with fun windows and a true cabin shape. It definitely feels more like a house than a tent as we know it. The price is rather steep, but we think for the immense structure and good quality materials, you won’t get better than this in this category.

While it’s certainly not built for even mild conditions, in the right warm and calm climate it can work so well for families and big groups. We believe this model suits car and truck camping. This is because you can bring so many items, like tables, chairs, big airbeds, camping coolers, and so on, and there is more than enough room to store everything.

It seems perfect for summer trips with the vast mesh openings, where you can relax inside and view the environment with ease.

What We Love – Our Top 3 Features

Extremely Spacious Interior

3 rooms can be created using the removable curtain dividers. We think this is so important for larger capacity tents because it gives you the option of privacy. When a large group is camping together, even with the immense amount of space, things can get quite close. Having the opportunity to make your own isolated room allows you and others to get changed, have naps, or go to bed early in peace. The cabin shape gives very vertical tall walls that optimise the interior roominess.

Full Size Closets

You won’t find closets in many tents on the market today, even in large ones like this model. This is such a thoughtful addition as it allows for long-term camping trips. You don’t need to live out of your backpack. Instead you can utilise the shelving that organise your clothes, being able to hang them up too.

Lots of Mesh Openings

This tent has an extremely wide-open feel to it. Apart from the back wall, the front and side walls can all stay open and stay protected from bugs with mesh. You can achieve great levels of air circulation through leaving everything open during the day, for a comfy and humid-free sleep at night.

Main Overview – Breaking Down Every Detail

Interior Features

The floor plan is very simple and airy, giving you the freedom to customise the space completely. You’ll find quite a few storage options inside, including handing pockets, a media pocket, and mesh holders near the ground.

2 closets are deep-set and can be tied up and kept open or closed to keep your clothes hidden. They are perfect for long-term camping.

Appropriate Climate

It is important to note that this tent can only be used in a particular climate, that being warmer seasons with less wind. Traditional cabins like this one are known for not doing so well in very high winds, due to the tall structure. It will hold well in light winds because of the strong steel frame but do keep this in mind.

Great Materials

Despite this rating as a 2-season tent, the materials used are rather heavy-duty. The rainfly and walls are made from 68D 185T polyester the is thick and has an impressive waterproof rating of 1200mm. The floor is a robust PE with welded sealed seams, so is also quite waterproof.

The all-steel framework is also quite sturdy and lends itself to quite a lot of the heavy weight. This is intended for car camping though, so shouldn’t be an issue.

Most Asked Questions – We’ve Got You Covered

How difficult is the set up?

Despite its size, the installation process is actually rather simple. All the poles are colour-coded, and there are moulded hubs that allow you to easily connect each leg. If you’re a first timer or casual camper, we do recommend though to try assembling it at least once before doing so at a campsite – you never know if the weather may turn or you need to set it up at night.

How many doors are there?

Just one on the front. It would be nice to have at least 2 because it is quite large, but the front door is very big and can be left open with the mesh rolled back.

Conclusion on Northwest Territory Grand Canyon Tent

To conclude, this is an awesome cabin tent for 12 people for summer camping. It’s certainly suitable for extended trips. You can experience maximum comfort in a giant structure that’re built just like a home. Added curtains provide privacy when needed, and there is so much room for other items like a table and chairs, bean bags, and so on. It’s also great for being able to separate a living space from the bedrooms. For the high price tag, you’re getting great quality with a reliable build for what you’re paying for.
