Ozark Trail Weatherbuster 9 Person Dome Tent – Full Review
Our First Thoughts
We feel that this Ozark Trail model is one of the most reliable large capacity warm weather shelters out there. A massive 160ft² of space is perfect for families, as you’ll have enough room for a couple of queen beds plus space left in the middle.
For a dome tent, the centre height is tall enough to walk around for most people, bring the comfort level to the max. At $130 (or over depending on where you purchase it from) it’s an amazing price when you look at the size.
It’s definitely a tent meant for more recreational camping than remote or backcountry trips. It won’t protect you from harsh weather, but in mild wind and rain it will do well.

What We Love – Our Top 3 Features
GOLD QUALITY – Well Ventilated
Our favorite part about this model is how much wonderful ventilation you get from all the mesh openings. This is what makes it such a perfect summer camper. As well as airflow, you get stunning 360° views of wherever you’ve set up camp. Even though this is a large capacity, the ability to expose all this mesh makes it feel larger than it really is.
SILVER FEATURE – Roomy
Due to the vast amount of space, you can fit 3 huge queen airbeds inside, all in a row. Although we wouldn’t recommend this because you’d have no storage room, 2 queen air mattresses on either side would be perfect. You can then use the middle section as a living, storage, and play area for kids. We love the versatility and how you can customize it how you want.
BRONZE HIGHLIGHT– Storage
5 storage options are available in this model. 2 large wall pockets, 2 double-section pockets, one gear loft, and a media pocket for your devices. The device pocket lets you touch the screen without taking it out, and it’s moveable so you can move it all around the tent wherever you want to watch some movies.
Main Overview – Breaking Down Every Detail
Set Up
With color-coded poles, setting this up is easier than you would think. It follows a traditional pitch style. After staking down all the corners, poles are inserted through the sleeves, where they form an X-frame or criss-cross. This adds to the wind stability. More poles get inserted into the end sections, and everything gets lifted. Then, use the provided guy lines and steel and plastic stakes to secure it down. It should take around 15 minutes.
Multiple Layout Options
Personalize the interior of this tent to make it a more comfortable camping experience. You’re not limited to how you can arrange the beds or store your gear, so go crazy. The only thing we have to say is that you shouldn’t really use 3 full size queen airbeds at once, as there wouldn’t be much space left. Use the centre or one of the ends as the storage section or set up a table and chairs.
High-Quality Materials
Even though this is only meant for mild weather, there is still an ample amount of protection with this model. The tent body fabric is made from top-quality 185T polyester taffeta that has a waterproof index of 600mm. The flooring is robust 235g PE. This is important because it is thicker to withstand people constantly walking on it, to stop ground water leakage, and to protect from holes forming.
The rainfly is also waterproof made from the same 185T pol taffeta, again with a waterproof rating of 600mm. The mesh stops bug getting through as it’s a thick 68D polyester mesh. Finally, the carry bag fabric is a very thick 600D poly Oxford, so you can trust in its durability.
Comfort & Convenience
Fit your deluxe queen air mattress in this giant and experience a little luxury like if you were sleeping in your own home. You may be the type of camper who needs these little luxuries in order to enjoy yourself better. Lots of storage options for smaller valuables makes it convenient to have them at easy reach, and there are plenty of mesh windows to keep things cool inside.
Most Asked Questions – We’ve Got You Covered
Does it hold up well in rain?
This model isn’t the best for high levels of precipitation, but for light to moderate precipitation it will do the job. The tent body and rainfly have a waterproof rating of 600mm, so keep this in mind before deciding to take it to a location that is known for downpours.
Is the set up easy?
The pitch should take around 15 to 20 minutes for first timers, and it has an easy traditional process. You should practice before you leave. Check out our Main Overview section to get a better idea of how to set it up.
