Frequently Asked Questions

How do I Repair Camping Pillows?

This depends on the material.

If it’s a cloth or fabric material, you can easily hand sew any holes or cuts with a needle and thread. A basic straight-stitch or catch-stitch will work just fine.

For inflatables, avoid hand stitching as this can obviously create more holes, and it will not work well because of the tougher, less flexible material.

Try using an adhesive repair patch – the easiest ones to use are self-adhesive. These work great for covering any holes that can stop inflation.

How do I Use Camping Pillows?

There are many ways to use it in terms of where and when to use and how it is stored. Some have handy sacks with carry handles to easily transport around.

Usually, you can roll these up so that it is portable enough for travel. Inflatable pillows are a great example of this – the inflatability means it is versatile enough to fit in small luggage or backpacks.

We’d like to note that it’s very important to store it properly to increase its lifespan. Try to leave the pillow out of its sack for as long as possible, and when you’re not using it, store it flat.

This allows it to breathe, and it can also prevent nasty odors that can accumulate over time.

How do I Wash Camping Pillows?

To maintain a high level of hygiene, your pillow should be washed quite frequently, particularly if you are hiking in poor weather conditions.

First check if it’s machine washable. If not, usually a lukewarm hand-wash with a non-chemical detergent works best, as it will not be so harsh on some of the more delicate materials or remove the waterproofing membrane. If you don’t have a washing brush, you can gently scrub the pillow against itself to encourage suds and clean it properly.

We recommend allowing it to air-dry in the sun or where there is ample wind – this ensures the pillow can thoroughly dry, and for inflatable pillows, it stops water from staying in the interior and eliminates the potential growth of bacteria.

Conclusion

The best camping pillows should be lightweight, easily portable, and most importantly, comfortable to sleep on.

With what we’ve found, we believe you can travel easily without discomfort, and enjoy your camping experience with great sleeps.

While some are more closely related to traditional pillows, there are now ingeniously designed inflatable models with ergonomic comfort.

They are typically easy to inflate using your own breath and are just as comfortable as regular pillows.

Memory foam is even an option, and you can find compressible ones for simple storage.
