Timber Ridge Log Cabin Tent Review

Timber Ridge Log Cabin Tent Review

The Timber Ridge Log Cabin Tent is one of the most unique models out there on the market right now. It’s difficult to make such a traditional shape work, especially in terms of wind resistance, but this model is known for its durability.

For family camping, this is the ultimate shelter. Tons of mesh, big open spaces, and a front screen lobby make a true mini home. With a capacity of 8 people, it’s ideal for a family of group of 4 to get the most amount of leftover space for storage.

Apart from the obvious outward cabin tent design, we will look at what makes this tent different from similarly styled ones on sale today and if it’s a good idea to bring this model on your next trip.

We’ll also check the consensus on its waterproofing capabilities, so let’s deep dive into every feature about this tent in our full review.

Our First Thoughts

I am so excited about this tent, and it’s not just because it has such a cool and charming lodge design. The sheer size is outstanding, especially with the front room. The rainfly is also pretty good coverage when you consider that you can close the windows.

Plus, we’ve seen a lot of screen room models where the fly doesn’t cover it very well, and you can’t store anything there in rain. Back to the outer pattern, it looks just like something you’d find next to a lake, fit with wooden logs, rocks and all.

Even though this won’t hold up in super high winds or harsh downpours, this is an excellent and reliable choice for warm weather and soft winds.

GOLD QUALITY – Huge Front Room

The 13ft long and 4ft wide front screen section is definitely our favorite part. Based on its sheer size, you can comfortably set up a big table and some chairs for bug-free dining, lounging, and playing.

Beautiful Sunlit Room with Large Space

Due to the great coverage from the fly, you can store gear and let your dogs sleep there at night, even if it rains lightly. With the big D-door entrance to get into the main room, maximum convenience is provided here.

SILVER FEATURE – Easy Pitch

Once practiced at home or on the campsite, you can certainly pitch this in around 30 minutes by yourself. With 2 of your buddies or more helping you out, it can easily go up in 10 to 15 minutes.

Easily Assembled with Simple Instructions

Each pole is coded with different colors so you can easily see where they must connect, speeding up the process.

BRONZE HIGHLIGHT– Good Framework

This model seems like it’s more durable than most similar shapes out there. It looks like they have truly considered how cabin tents aren’t known for their top durability against winds, as this has robust steel poles for the frame.

Plenty of Room for a Table and Cot

They don’t feel flimsy, and when you’ve staked the structure down properly, it can resist quite strong winds. Of course, I know that this isn’t meant for constant harsh winds because of its tall nature, so pitch it in light winds wherever possible to get the longest use from it.

Impressive Size

Lots of headroom and space for at least 2 queen airbeds showcases the remarkable size of this tent. with one queen airbed, you can also fit a long table inside for playing card games or eating when it’s cold and you don’t want to use the screen porch. With the full mesh roof, it feels even bigger, as it’s airier and more open.

Weather Defense

Despite its size, this is a durable tent that can withstand moderate to even slightly heavier winds. Of course, don’t expose it to days and days of heavy winds, but the steel pole construction makes it fairly wind resistant.

For protection against leaks, the body is made from long-lasting 190T polyester, and the floor is a thick PE fabric. This prevents leaks as well as holes from easily forming. This is important because lots of people will most likely walk around on it with shoes, and you’ll be storing gear and possibly cots as well.

Simple Features make it a Cinch to Manage Outdoors

The floor is also bathtub shaped, and it comes up quite far, at least 4 or 5 inches to keep the ground dry.

Each window has zippers on the storm panels that allow them to close for extra protection. They shut from the inside, so it’s more convenient. The rainfly doesn’t come down very far, but it covers the tops of the windows and even the front room, which isn’t always the case for tents with screen porches attached.

Air Circulation

With 4 big windows and a vast mesh roof, the amount of airflow is commendable. When you leave the fly off, you’re getting a nice cross-breeze effect as the wind can pass through the front room from every angle, then flow through the windows at the back.

Most Asked Questions – We’ve Got You Covered

How Many People Should Set This Up?

Due to its large size, we recommend that you set this up with 2 people, even 3 if you want it to go up extra fast. It certainly can be done by one person, but it will take a lot longer.

How Many Mattresses Can  it Fit?

2 standard queen airbeds can easily fit in this model. The floor area is huge, and the steep walls make it ideal for bunk cots as well. If you do use 2 queen mattresses though, you might lose a lot of extra space, so keep this in mind if you want more room. In saying that, you do have the front room for storage if need be.

Our Final Thoughts on the Timber Ridge Log Cabin

Awesome exterior design, loads of ventilation, huge floor area, and a simple pitch – the Timber Ridge Log Cabin pretty much has it all when it comes to the perfect summer getaway tent.

This will act as your real home away from home, with the true traditional cottage structure that offers an incredible amount of space.

The front screened porch gives a modern twist on the classic style tent, and we love that the rainfly covers the entire thing so you can store items underneath in light rainfall. With the color-coded frame system, the set-up process is much easier than you’d expect for such a large tent.

Staked down tightly, paired with the great quality materials, this will keep you dry in moderate weather conditions. Enjoy fun-packed and comfortable summer camping adventures with this awesome cabin tent.
