This model certainly feels more like a home than a tent. This is a 2-room tent, with a removable room divider that gets placed exactly in the middle of the structure. You can use one room for storage or as a living space, and the other for sleeping. Or both rooms could be private bedrooms if you want some seclusion from everyone else. An 86” height lets everyone walk around effortlessly.

Summer camping at its finest, the entire roof is mesh which lets any hot air build-up escape. There are 6 mesh windows in total, great for aerating the interior space. You get fairly good coverage with the rainfly, although you should use the window storm flaps if it’s raining heavily. A PE floor is durable and won’t scratch easily. Front and back door access prevent any overcrowding, and the D-shape lets you get in and out without crouching.

The set up is uncomplicated and involves inserting the poles at the top and sides and clipping them to the hooks. It’s super convenient for such a large size and can take just a few minutes with 2 people. Once you’ve disassembled it, it fits into the expandable carry bag with extreme ease. We love that it expands because it makes it so much easier and you don’t have to break a sweat trying to stuff it in.

Ideal for casual camping trips, this is one of the most livable tents out there. Unlike the Coleman Hampton Tent Model, we love the integration of a built-in closet, uniquely in this model.

This lets you store all your clothes, shoes, and other valuables without taking up any floor space. It’s quite deep and lets you keep lots of items, plus you have a hanger bar to hang clothes and towels.

The hinged door is another awesome feature. It makes it super easy to get in and out as it works like a regular door, plus it has a handle for simple operation. Plenty of storage pockets line the walls, letting you store smaller necessities with easy access.

A fast pitch lets you set it up in under 9 minutes. It comes with color-coded poles that connect in a large hub, making it so much simpler for even first-time campers. The rainfly is included and is also easy to install.

The rainfly isn’t full coverage, but it sits over the body of the tent for some slight protection. Like all Colemans, this has the WeatherTec system, comprising of protected seams, a wind strong frame, covered zippers, and welded flooring. All of this makes a great waterproof structure that can prevent leaks from light rainfall.

Very similar to their 10p model, this is basically the XL version with taller walls and larger floor space. You’re getting a massive 16ft x 11ft of area, and the super erect walls accommodate perfectly cots and bunkbeds, an ideal large family tent.

You can also fully personalize the interior space using the removable curtain divider. It creates 2 roomy areas, where one can be used as a living and game room, while the other stays clean and private for sleeping.

Another great thing about the divider is that you can use it as a film screen. Bring your own projector along and play your favorite films in your own personal movie theatre.

During nice weather, you can leave all the panels open to expose the bug-repellent mesh. Fold back the front and back door entrances and you’ve got a beautiful airy space that allows tons of air circulation. Paired with the ground vents, you’re getting lovely cross-ventilation so condensation can’t form inside.

Since this is for a large capacity, we appreciate that there are 2 doors on this model. You’ve got the front T-shaped door that’s huge and lets 2 people enter at a time, and the back D-style door. This helps people to enter and exit as they please without disturbing others.

How to Choose Cabin Tents

Even if you’re going for a budget option, you want to make sure that the materials being used are high-quality. This is because you want to be fully protected – no one wants a puddle forming in their tent or scratches turning into holes.

For the flooring, Polyethylene would be suitable, this is generally used and offers greater water resistance, stopping moisture from penetrating from the ground upwards.

Tent material and Rainfly are generally some forms of Polyester, although the water ratings vary depending on quality, a rating of above 500-800 would be desirable for summer camping. 1000 and above for those camping in rainfall.

Any form of RipStop or Denier Rating of 50 and upwards will be a good starting point.

The framework whether fiberglass or steel is fine for family camping. Fiberglass provides a lighter frame, easier to carry and manage, while a solid steel frame will be pretty heavy, but very stable because of this. Steel will be better for car camping, while fiberglass models will be ideal for those on the move.

There are variants that have fiberglass poles with steel hinges, as a happy medium for both.

The size will greatly affect how many people can comfortably live inside your tent. This style comes in many different sizes, and even though the larger ones can seem quite similar, they offer very different levels of space.

An 11P can differ greatly from a 12P, so you need to think about this before purchasing. How many people will be using the shelter? Don’t get a huge capacity if you don’t really need it. However, always remember that the suggested capacity should be halved, so a 10P tent will work best with 4 to 5 people.

Size also affects how you intend to transport the tent. Obviously, this style of tent isn’t meant for anything like backpacking or hiking, but if you’ve got a super packed car with not a lot of space, choose a model that packs down quite well. Some are quite compact, and others need a huge roller bag.

The more campers there are sleeping inside, the more body heat there is going to be. It’s a simple fact and you need to take note of how much ventilation is available in the tent.

Look out for lots of windows, mesh on the doors, and a full mesh roof. Ground vents are also a great feature that creates a cross-airflow effect while the rainfly is on. You need this air circulation to prevent condensation build-up, so you’re more comfortable when you sleep.

Number of Rooms

In most modern versions, you’ll find they provide you with one or more curtain-like dividers. These separate the entire space into 2 or more rooms.

This is a huge advantage for larger size shelters. As there will be an increased amount of people, you’ll find that you need this privacy to change your clothes and sleep in peace. It also allows you to keep the bedroom separate and clean from the living and storage area.
